In terms of Section 3(1) of the Act, the mandate of the new MEGA is:

• To provide funding in respect of property development, housing loans, Small Medium and Micro-Sized Enterprises (SMMEs) and agricultural projects focusing primarily on historically disadvantaged Individuals (HDIs);
• To focus on project management, development and management of immovable property; and
• To promote foreign trade and investment so as to ensure enterprise and agricultural development that will significantly contribute to economic growth and development within Mpumalanga province;
• To support projects that contribute to the advancement of Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE).
