Our History

Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA) was formed originally in terms of MEGA Act No. 1, of 2010 to provide funding and promote foreign trade and investment in Mpumalanga Province with a main focus at Historically Disadvantaged Individuals (HDIs).

MEGA was formed by combining the MADC, old MEGA and MHFCO.

MADC was previously responsible for financing and growing all Agriculture and Farming projects in Mpumalanga.

Old MEGA was responsible for Funding of SMMEs and Promoting Trade and Investment in Mpumalanga Province.

MHFCO was responsible for financing Housing in the Mpumalanga Province.

The new entity MEGA, established in 2010 is now responsible for Funding SMMEs, Agro Projects and Farming, Housing and promoting Trade and Investment in Mpumalanga

MEGA also invests and partners in strategic projects that need an equity partner. Such projects as the Tekwane Citrus, Nkomati Anthracite, Kangwane Anthracite and Highveld Fruit Packers have benefited from MEGA’s experience and capability to commercialize these businesses.
