Albert Luthuli Municipality
Eerstehoek Raw Water Pipeline: construction is fully completed and practical and final completion certificate has been issues to the contractor.
Refurbishment of Carolina WTW: Contractor appointed on 28 March 2014. Site handed over by 14 April 2014 and established. The project was handed over to Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality in July 2014.
4ML storage Reservoir: Construction is ongoing. The project was handed over to Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality in July 2014. Construction of new 350mm diameter uPVC from Eerstehoek WTW to Elukwatini and Nhlazatshe. Contractor appointed on 28 March 2014. The project was handed over to Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality in July 2014.
Dr JS Moroka Municipality
The projects below were handed over to the Municipality at the instruction of the Provincial Government during the period August/September 2014.
Water Conservation & Demand management: Consultant was appointed on 20 January 2014. Basic Assessment Report completed in May 2014. Consultant was in the process of capturing hydraulic data from DR JS Moroka Municipality network i.e. the data will be obtained from the data loggers and flow measuring devices installed at strategic points. Consolidation of this information was to lead to a Detailed Assessment Report.
Leeufontein/Digwala bulk line: Consultant appointed 13 December 2013. Designs were finalised in March 2014. Draft Tender document for procurement of Contractor produced.
Mkhondo Municipality
Design and construction monitoring of water pipeline from Driefontein WTW to Iswepe and Haartebeesfontein: Design and Tender document completed and submitted for approval 15 June 2014. The documents have been reviewed and approved for tender processes. The project was handed over to Mkhondo Local Municipality in July 2014. Piet Retief
Maphephenini/Rustplaas Bulk water Supply: Design and tender documentation complete and submitted for review and approval on 20 June 2014. Both documents have been reviewed and approved for tender processes. The project was handed over to Mkhondo Local Municipality inJuly 2014
Thembisile Hani Municipality
The projects below, were handed over to the Municipality at the instruction of the Provincial Government during the period August/September 2014. Reservoir and Pipeline at KwaMhlanga for Phola Park: Consultant appointed on 3 December 2014 for a R 34 million project. Re-assessment of the scope by consultant lead to revision of scope of works with a project budget of R310million. Project handed over to the Municipality at the instruction of the Provincial Finance and Budget Committee in August/September 2014. Delays in obtaining approval of the new scope of works by DWA. Approvals obtained in April 2014. Further delays experienced after approvals of the scope by DWA, due to the synchronisation of the tender conditions for the earlier and revised scope of works. The project was still at design stage by
the time MEGA got the handover directive.
Upgrading of Kwaggafontein Water Scheme: Designs were completed in the previous quarter i.e. (April to June). Draft tender document submitted in May 2014. Advert for contractor was not floated yet by the time MEGA got the handover instruction of the Provincial Finance and Budget Committee.
Mbombela Municipality
All the projects below were handed over to the Municipality at the instruction of the Provincial Government during the period August/September 2014.
Nsikazi South/Karino Scheme (Pipeline): Project design complete. Site handover 27 January 2014. Materials ordered and delivered. Construction in progress (26% complete).
Nsikazi South/Karino Scheme (Treatment works): Project design complete. Contractor appointment could not be processed due to budget shortfall. Mbombela Local Municipality busy with application for additional funding from DWA. Water to Nsikazi South via Karino Regional Bulk water and Bulk water supply to Nsikazi North: business plans submitted to DWA but not yet approved.
Nkomazi Municipality
All the projects listed below, were handed over to the Municipality at the instruction of the Provincial Government during the period August/September 2014 except Vlakbult and Khombaso which were above 80% complete by that time. To date the two projects are 100% complete.
Mabundzeni –Upgrade of reservoir and existing reticulation: Consultant appointed 11 September 2013 and Designs complete. Contractor appointed on 13 March 2014. Site handed over on 25 March 2014. Construction was in progress and at 60% complete when project was handed over to Municipality
Masibekela extension of existing reticulation and replacement of rising main (2km): Consultant appointed. Contractor could not be appointed due to budget constraints.
Khombaso – extend exiting reticulation and gravity main: Consultant appointed and Designs complete. Contractor appointed on 13 March 2014. Site handed over on 20 March 2014. Construction is at 100 % complete and a completion certificate was issued on 27 August 2014
Magudu Extension of existing reticulation, reservoir and water treatment upgrade: Consultant appointed 7th October 2013. Designs complete. Contractor appointed on 13 March 2014. Site handed over on 25 March 2014. Construction was in progress and was at 65% complete when project was handed over to Municipality.
Mbuzini reticulation and gravity line upgrade and construction of 2ML reservoir: Consultant appointed and designs complete. Vlakbult- Reticulation and 3km bulk line upgrade: Consultant appointed and designs complete. Contractor appointed on 13 March 2014. Construction is at 100% complete and a completion certificate was issued on 15 August 2014
Schoemansdal North- reticulation and bulk line reservoir upgrade and illegal connection and leaks repairs: Consultant appointed and Designs complete. Tenders were stopped due to budget constraints.
Ngwenyeni – reticulation and gravity main upgrade: Consultant appointed and Designs complete. Tenders were stopped due to budget constraints
Dludluma – reticulation and replacement of asbestos pipeline: Contractor appointed and Designs complete. Contractor appointed on 13 March 2014. Site handed over on 24 March 2014. Construction in progress and was at 61% complete when the project was handed over to the Municipality.
Stentor- Reticulation, rising main and mini package plant installation:Consultant appointed and Designs to be completed by 15 April 2014 due to water source challenges.
